Lens shrinkage

Complicated cataracts related to anterior segment diseases, the lesions progress slowly, such as local inflammation is controlled, turbidity can be stable for a long time without development. As the course of the disease progresses, the degree and range of turbidity continues to increase and expand, eventually affecting the entire lens. During the progress, crystalline substances or calcium deposits may appear in the lens or capsule, and in the later stage, lens shrinkage and even calcification may occur. Complicated cataract is caused by other diseases of the eye such as uveitis, glaucoma, retinal detachment, retinal pigment degeneration, intraocular tumors and high myopia, which affect the nutrition and metabolism of the lens and cause cloudiness of the lens.
