Enlarged throat
Prominent laryngeal nodule is one of the sexual characteristics of men. After the period of puberty, men's laryngeal nodule usually protrudes to varying degrees due to the action of androgens. However, there are also a few girls who also have a laryngeal nodule. A human's throat is composed of 11 pieces of cartilage as a scaffold. The most prominent one is the thyroid cartilage. At 2 months, fetal laryngeal cartilage begins to develop, and it continues to grow each year until 5 to 6 years after birth, but laryngeal cartilage growth basically stops during the period from 5 to 6 years of age to adolescence. Therefore, the thyroid cartilage of boys and girls is the same. After entering puberty, due to increased secretion of androgens, this makes men present with laryngeal nodules.
