Uropentose

L-arabinose and L-xylose appear mainly in urine. After eating foods containing pentose sugars such as dates, plums, cherries, and other fruit juices, they appear transiently in urine. Acquired pentose is due to the lack of L-xylulose to xylitol Transferase, 4 to 5 g of xylulose are excreted daily in urine.
