Hyperhomocysteinemia

In the late 1960s, McCully pathologically found that patients with homocysteineuria and cystathionineuria can develop systemic atherosclerosis and thrombosis in the early stages. Accumulation in serotoninemia can cause similar vascular damage, and it was proposed in the 1980s that hyperhomocysteinemia is an independent risk factor for atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.
