Earache

Ear pain is a common symptom, often caused by ear disease (primary or otogenic ear pain), or by diseases of nearby organs or other organs (secondary or reflex ear pain). The severity of ear pain is not necessarily the same as the severity of the lesion, but it can also be a sign of some serious illness (such as a malignant ear tumor). Obstruction of the Eustachian tube (the tube that runs from the back of the throat to the middle ear) is the most common cause of ear pain in children and adults. Colds, sinus infections, or allergies can aggravate ear pain.
