Incision and drainage of retroperitoneal extraperitoneal liver abscess

Applicable to abscesses on the right side of the liver. Notes on incision and drainage of transabdominal extraperitoneal liver abscess: 1. All layers of muscles should be fully incision to prevent unclear operation field and poor drainage. 2. The indication is to be outside the renal fat sac and away from the adrenal gland, close to the diaphragm and separate upward to prevent bleeding. 3. Pull the sacroiliac muscles backwards to cut the ribs from the rib neck. 4. Be careful not to damage the pleura when separating rib periosteum.
