Esophageal myotomy

This is an operation to relieve the sphincter of the lower end of the esophagus, which may effectively improve emptying of the esophagus. The method is simple, easy to operate, has few postoperative complications, low mortality, and can be performed at any age. It has been used to treat achalasia since the 1950s.
