Portal vein shunt

Hepatic portal vein shunt is a surgical method used to treat portal hypertension syndrome. Portal hypertension is caused by the obstruction of portal blood flow caused by different factors, which leads to the increase of portal vein pressure. It is a group of syndromes mainly characterized by splenomegaly, ascites, and collateral circulation.
