There are many enzymes in the human body involved in material metabolism, energy conversion, and nerve conduction and immune regulation. In 1972, the International Commission of Enzymes divided enzyme assays into six major categories, namely oxidoreductases, transferases, hydrolases, lyases, ligases, and isomerases. PHI is usually measured by Brinell's method.
