Liver surface status and margins

Liver surface condition and edge examination is an auxiliary examination method used to check whether the liver surface condition and edges of the abdominal liver are normal. This includes checking the surface of the liver for smoothness, nodules, thin edges, and neatness. The surface of normal liver is smooth, the edges are neat, and the thickness is consistent. Those with hepatic congestion, hepatitis, and fatty liver have smooth liver surfaces and rounded edges; those with cirrhosis have small nodules on the surface of the liver with irregular edges; those with liver cancer and polycystic liver have coarse and uneven nodules The thickness of the margins is also inconsistent; for patients with giant liver cancer, liver abscess, and liver hydatid disease, the surface of the liver is massive.
