Atropine inhibition GH test
The atropine inhibitory GH test was performed on the following principle. The cholinergic blocker atropine inhibits the action of acetylcholine in the arcuate nucleus and inhibits the release of GHRH, thereby reducing the pituitary GH secretion. Pituitary GH tumors exhibit autonomic GH secretion and are not inhibited by atropine. This test is helpful for the differential diagnosis of pituitary GH tumors.
