Serum complement C5
C5 is one of the 11 complement components in the blood. C5 is the first complement molecule that forms the membrane attack complex (MAC). It has an allergic toxin effect, chemotaxis effect, metabolism promoting effect, and immune regulating effect. Determination of C5 content is helpful for the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
