Urinary acetoacetate

Urinary acetoacetate is a type of urine ketone body test. The ketone body produced by normal people is quickly used, and its content in blood is extremely small, about 2.0-4.0mg / L, of which acetoacetate accounts for 20%. Qualitative tests were negative. However, when hunger, impaired glucose metabolism due to various reasons, increased lipolysis, and diabetic acidosis, the rate of ketone bodies produced is greater than the rate of tissue utilization, the content of urinary acetoacetate increases, and ketonuria (KET) occurs. Determination of urinary acetoacetate can help diagnose ketosis.
