Low sodium test
In the low-sodium test, when the intake of sodium chloride in food is less than 20 to 40 mmol / d, the urine aldosterone increases and the sodium decreases, but the potassium does not decrease. However, in patients with protoaldehyde disease, due to continued storage of sodium and potassium, urinary sodium decreases, and the already increased aldosterone does not increase further, while urinary potassium also decreases at the same time. The reason for the decrease in urinary potassium is due to the decrease in urinary sodium, which limits the exchange with potassium.
