Salivary histones
Histones in saliva are mainly derived from parotid, submandibular, and sublingual glands. Its composition is characterized by a large number of basic amino acids (about 48%) in the molecule, half of which are histidine, these basic amino acids are closely related to their functions. A distinguishing feature of histone richness from other salivary proteins is that its RNA is limited to the human parotid and submandibular glands, and it is speculated that its function is limited to saliva.
