Serum free cholesterol
Free cholesterol in serum accounts for about 30% of the total cholesterol content, and this ratio will be different under pathological conditions. Generally, only total serum cholesterol is measured in clinical tests. If cholesterol esters and free cholesterol are to be measured separately, the free cholesterol portion in the extract solution from digitonin precipitation can also be used for determination. Silicate chromatography or enzymatic methods can also be used for determination. .
