In order to unify the Hb measurement method, the International Committee for Standardization of Hematology recommended the Hb measurement method for high-speed iron cyanide as the standard method for Hb measurement in 1966. The HiCN method was reiterated in an international document jointly published by the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and the World Pathological Society in 1978.
