Jugular vein examination
Jugular vein examination is an auxiliary examination method to check whether the jugular vein is normal. The normal jugular vein does not show fullness in the supine position when standing or sitting in a normal person, but it is limited to 2/3 of the distance from the upper edge of the clavicle to the mandibular angle. If the above level is exceeded or the jugular vein is full and swollen at 45 degrees Fullness is referred to as jugular venous flares indicating abnormal venous pressure. The jugular vein is a pressure gauge of the right atrium. It can reflect changes in pressure and volume of the right atrium. Because the right jugular vein is shorter than the left jugular vein and a direct continuation of the superior vena cava, the right jugular vein reflects the right more than the left. Changes in atrial pressure.
