External eye examination mainly observes the eyeball and orbit, eyelid, lacrimal, conjunctiva, cornea, sclera, anterior chamber, iris, pupil, lens and other parts, sometimes with the help of a flashlight (or eye examination lamp), slit lamp, etc.
