Mandibular reflex
The mandibular reflex examination instructs the patient to relax the jaw, with the mouth half open. The examiner places a finger on the patient's jaw and taps the finger with a percussion hammer; or the examiner holds a tongue depressor on the left and places one end on the incisor below the patient. Use a percussion hammer to gently tap this tongue depressor and observe the reflex examination of the lower jaw.
