Language delay

Introduction

Introduction Language development retardation refers to children's verbal ability or language comprehension ability caused by various reasons, which is significantly behind the normal development level of children of the same age. Factors such as mental retardation, hearing impairment, organ-organic diseases, central nervous system diseases, and poor language environment are common causes of language development retardation in children. If you find that your child has language delay, try to find the cause. If the child does not have a significant delay in language development for the above reasons, it is called idiopathic language development disorder or developmental language delay.

Diagnosis

Differential diagnosis

The etiology of idiopathic language developmental disorders is currently unclear and may be associated with certain sensory dysfunctions in brain tissue. It is generally believed that it is mainly caused by innate factors. Clinically, it is divided into two types: expressive language disorder and sensory language disorder. The former can understand the language but can't express it. The latter has limited understanding and expression of the language. When the child begins to learn the language, the language defect is displayed, and the child can make some syllables, but cannot form words.
