Head and neck separation
Introduction
Introduction Head and neck separation is one of the clinical manifestations of a gallow fracture or a traumatic vertebral arch fracture. Clinical manifestations: mainly neck symptoms, there is a sense of separation of the head and neck, patients like to hold the head by hand; it should be noted that about 15% of cases can have spinal symptoms.
Cause
Cause
1. History of trauma: Mostly it is violence from the back of the mandible, and can be inferred from local skin rubs and contusions.
2. Clinical manifestations: mainly neck symptoms, there is a sense of separation of the head and neck, patients like to hold the head by hand; it should be noted that about 15% of cases can have spinal symptoms.
3. Imaging examination: Clear images can be obtained on the X-ray side and the oblique position, as shown by the common types. If the fracture line is unclear and there is no displacement, a film or CT piece may be added. MRI should be performed in cases with spinal neurological symptoms. The image shows that the fracture line is within 3mm and there is no angular deformation. Most of them are stable. If the fracture line exceeds 3mm and is deformed with forward or backward angle, it is unstable. In severe cases, angular deformities can also occur at this time.

Diagnosis
Differential diagnosis
Head and neck pain: severe pain in the head and neck is one of the characteristics of tension headache. Tension headache, also known as muscle contraction headache, is the most common type of headache. It is generally considered to have a higher prevalence than migraine, accounting for about half of all outpatient headaches. Mainly for the neck and head and face muscles, the head pressure and heavy feeling caused by the continuous contraction, and some patients complained that the head has a "tight" feeling.
Obsessive head and neck tilt deformity: Patients with unilateral facet joint dislocation have prominent local neck symptoms, pain, compulsive head and neck tilt deformity, cervical spine extension and rotational function limitation.
