Obstruction of superior vena cava return
The superior vena cava obstruction syndrome is a syndrome in which blood flow is blocked due to complete or incomplete obstruction of the superior vena cava due to various causes. The clinical manifestations are mainly upper limb and facial edema and bruising, varicose veins of the chest wall. Most of the causes of superior vena cava obstruction are mediastinal tumors or hilar tumors and mediastinal inflammation. A few are due to superior vena cava thrombophlebitis.
