Glutamic acid
Glutamine is excreted by glutaminase in the epithelial cells of the renal tube to remove ammonia. Ammonia is then combined with H + to form ammonium salt and excreted. In the body, ammonia can also synthesize glutamic acid with α-ketoglutarate. Clinical detection of glutamate metabolism is helpful for disease diagnosis.
