Meningeal irritation
Meningeal irritation is a pathological reflex that causes the spinal cord to be stimulated during meningeal disease and affects the spinal nerve roots, which causes reflex spasm of the corresponding muscle group when the stimulus is pulled. Found in meningitis, subarachnoid hemorrhage and increased intracranial pressure. Common meningeal irritation signs include neck stiffness, leg lift test, and Brudzinski sign.
