Delusions of parasitosis are also called parasitophobia or acarophobia. Parasitic delusions are a rare type of psychiatric disorder in which patients stubbornly believe that they are infected with parasites. This disease is a mental illness, and patients often visit a dermatologist. The disease occurs in young and middle-aged women.
