Thyroglobulin (TG) is a macromolecular glycoprotein synthesized by thyroid follicular epithelial cells. It is the main component of glia within thyroid follicles. Synthetic thyroid hormone is stored in the follicular cavity as globulin. Under normal circumstances, only a very small amount of TG enters the blood circulation.
