Renal damage in primary macroglobulinemia
Primary macroglobulinemia was first reported by Waldenstrom in 1944, so it is also called Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (WM). The disease is a syndrome of increased monoclonal IgM accompanied by lymphoid cell proliferation and sometimes glomerular damage. Its clinical features are enlarged lymph nodes, hepatosplenomegaly, lymphocytes and plasma cell-like lymphocytes in bone marrow and lymph nodes, and increased monoclonal IgM in blood.
