Pretracheal space infection
The anterior tracheal space is located between the anterior tracheal fascia and the trachea, and can reach the upper mediastinum downward. Clinical infections are rare, mainly secondary to laryngo-pharyngeal and esophageal damage and thyroid inflammation. Hoarseness due to mild edema at the beginning of the throat may cause difficulty in swallowing and difficulty breathing. The use of a sufficient amount of effective antibiotics to assist local physical therapy can help control inflammation. Abscess formation should be incision and drainage.
