Cutaneous meningioma
Skin meningioma is also called psammoma. Primary dermal meningioma is also called residual meningocele. The disease is a developmental defect that occurs in the head and forehead, and is occasionally seen in the external auditory canal. Skin meningiomas are mostly benign, spherical or nodular, growing outside the parenchyma of the brain, but often embedded within the cerebral hemisphere. Meningiomas are very rich in blood because tumors often receive blood from multiple sources such as the external carotid artery, internal carotid artery, or vertebrobasilar artery. These tumors grow very slowly, so sometimes the tumors grow very large without symptoms.
