Thyroid-free cretinism in children

This symptom refers to cretinism caused by congenital lack of thyroid development, so it is also known as KDS syndrome, often accompanied by muscular hypertrophy. In 1892, Swiss physician Kocher first pointed out the rare case of hypertrophy in children with cretinism without goiter. In 1935 Debré and Sémélaigne described the symptoms in detail.
