Circular pancreas
The healing position of the two pancreatic buds (pancreas and parapancreas) in the embryonic period is abnormal. When the duodenum rotates, the ventral pancreatic buds are fixed and extended, and the duodenum is lowered when it is combined with the dorsal pancreatic buds later. The upper part of the pancreas is surrounded by compression of the duodenum, which is called an annular pancreas. The pancreatic head of the circular pancreas is still located within the duodenal arc. The tissue of the circular portion contains the same islet and acinar tissue as the normal pancreas.
