Orbital teratoma

Teratoma is a congenital cystic disease. The cyst wall is composed of a variety of tissues differentiated from 2 or 3 germ layers. 90% contains outer and mesoderm tissues, and 10% contains inner and middle Germ layer tissue. Some people think that teratoma contains tissue components other than the anatomical part of the tumor, so it is also called papilloma, but most pathologists believe that teratoma is a real tumor and belongs to a primitive stem cell tumor. This cystic mass mostly occurs in the midline of the human body or on both sides of it, such as the ovaries, testes, mediastinum, peritoneum and sacrum. It is rare in the orbit, and it often involves the skull base and sinuses. There are two types of teratoma: benign and malignant. Those that occur in the testis are more malignant and those in the orbit are more benign.
