Pediatric Arterial Catheter
Arterial duct ductus (patent ductus arteriosus, PDA) is a pathological state in which the arterial duct is not closed but is continuously open after birth. The arterial duct evolved from the distal end of the 6th pair of bronchial arches. During fetal circulation, it directs most of the blood flow from the right ventricle into the pulmonary artery to the descending aorta and sends it to the placenta for oxygenation. After birth, the ductus arteriosus can exist as an independent lesion (can stand alone), or it can coexist with other cardiovascular malformations, such as narrowing or interruption of the aortic arch, severe aortic stenosis, left heart dysplasia syndrome, and pulmonary Atresia, severe pulmonary stenosis or as part of a vascular ring.
