Tongue thyroid
During embryonic development, the thyroid gland remains in the blind hole of the tongue, partially or completely, and becomes the tongue thyroid. Those with a normal thyroid in the neck and tongue thyroid are also called parathyroids. Those with thyroid tissue all concentrated on the base of the tongue and without thyroid in the normal position of the neck are also called vagus thyroid. The disease is rare in children, and more common in women of sexual maturity, pregnancy and lactation.
