Carbon tetrachloride poisoning

Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4), also known as tetrachloromethane, is a colorless liquid. It is a good solvent in industrial production. It is also used as a dry cleaning agent, fire extinguishing agent and fumigant. CCl4 can decompose into phosgene and hydrogen chloride when it encounters flame or hot metal surface, and its toxicity increases. Acute carbon tetrachloride poisoning is mostly caused by the inhalation of high-concentration vapors during production labor. It is mainly characterized by central anesthesia symptoms and liver and kidney damage. CCl4 is a typical liver poison.
