Medullary thyroid carcinoma

Medullary thyroid cancer is not actually thyroid cancer. It is derived from the thyroid follicular cells (also called C cells) that secrete calcitonin. It is a neuroendocrine cell and has nothing to do with thyroid follicular cells.
