Bovine tapeworm
Taeniasis saginate is a type of intestinal ascariasis caused by the adult intestine of taenia saginata, which is also known as beef ascariasis and obese ascariasis. Its cysticercus was first discovered by Wepfer in 1675. Leuckart infected gestational segments in cattle to obtain cysticercus in 1861. In 1869, Oliver infected cysticercus in humans, thus completing the entire life history. Bovine tapeworm is the earliest recorded parasitic disease, both domestically and abroad. Bovine tsutsugamushi disease has a worldwide distribution. It can cause epidemics in areas or ethnic groups that are accustomed to eating beef, especially raw beef. In general, it is mostly sporadic.
