Endemic goiter
Endemic goiter is a type of goiter. Goiter can be divided into endemic and sporadic by regional distribution. Endemic goiter is due to the existence of specific environmentally-induced goiter factors (mainly iodine deficiency) in a region. Therefore, a certain percentage of people living in this region have goiter. Goiter rate in children is above 5%, that is, the presence of goiter has constituted a public health problem. Generally less than 5%, is a sporadic goiter, mostly caused by non-iodine deficiency factors.
