Penile scrotal elephantiasis
Penile scrotal elephantiasis is the most prominent manifestation of advanced filariasis, and is mostly caused by F. bancherii. Due to inflammation, obstruction, and rupture of the lymphatic vessels, the skin and subcutaneous tissues become thicker and thicker and form elephantiasis. When secondary streptococcal infections occur, the disease can be further exacerbated.
