Progressive degeneration of the corpus callosum
Progressive degeneration of the corpus callosum has been called Marchliafara-Bignami disease, and it is a rare disease complicated by chronic alcoholism. Mostly middle-aged men often co-exist with malnutrition and other alcoholic diseases. The lesion mainly invades the middle layer of the corpus callosum, followed by the adjacent white matter of the brain and the cerebellar midfoot can also be affected. There is no specific treatment, and the prognosis is poor.
