Pediatric hypertension
Pediatric hypertension is currently evaluated using the percentile method. Those with systolic blood pressure and / or diastolic blood pressure exceeding the 95th percentile of their age and sex are hypertension, and those with 90-95th percentile are normal blood pressure. Primary hypertension is rare in children, accounting for about 20% to 30%, but has increased in recent years; secondary hypertension is more, accounting for about 65% to 80%. Among children with secondary hypertension, kidney disease accounts for 79%, followed by cardiovascular disease, endocrine disease, neurological disease and poisoning.
