Hemolytic uremic syndrome

Gasser (1955) first reported the comprehensive manifestations of hemolytic anemia, acute renal insufficiency, and thrombocytopenia in 5 children. This type of triple syndrome is called haemolytic uraemic syndrome (HUS), and it is also called microangiopathic hemolytic anemia. Typical HUS is a syndrome with abnormal red blood cell morphology, clinically characterized by hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and acute renal failure.
