Non-venereal syphilis
Endemic syphilis (endemic syphilis, nonvenereal syphilis) is an endemic disease caused by Treponema pallidum type II, caused by non-sexual transmission. Human-to-human transmission is mainly through mucosal contact. The body is infected by contact with tableware, drink cups, or felt products contaminated with pathogens. The most common is secondary oral mucosal plaque. Untreated secondary endemic syphilis can heal in 6-9 months. The tertiary damage is a gel ulcer of the skin, nasopharynx, and bone. A single dose of benzathine penicillin is effective in treating this disease and its contacts.
