Pharyngeal reflex

Using a tongue depressor to lightly touch the posterior wall of the pharynx causes nausea reflex (pharyngeal muscle contraction) in normal. The reflex center lies in the medulla oblongata. Those with nerve damage are slow or disappear. Pharyngeal reflex is a physiological reaction that prevents swallowing foreign bodies. When you put a toothbrush in your mouth and brush your teeth, you will also involuntarily "rett".
