Thoracolumbar compression fracture
The thoracolumbar vertebra junction area is where the bone stress is concentrated. Therefore, fractures often occur in the thoracic 11, 12 lumbar 1, and 2 vertebrae, which is clinically called thoracolumbar fracture. Vertebral osteoporosis in the elderly can cause vertebral compression fractures under mild external forces.
