Small bowel crisis
Intestinal radiation sickness appears as a small bowel crisis in about a week. Acute radiation disease is a systemic disease caused by the body receiving a large dose (> 1Gy) of ionizing radiation in a short period of time. Acute radiation sickness may occur in both external and internal radiation, but external radiation predominates. Radiation that causes acute radiation sickness includes gamma rays, neutrons and X-rays.
