Swelling and pain below the ankle
Most of the acute ligament injuries of the ankle joint have a clear history of trauma. Clinically, patients can find swelling and pain in the front and bottom of the lateral malleolus, local tenderness, subcutaneous ecchymosis, limited joint movements, and claudication.
