Pain

Pain is an unpleasant response of the body to damaged tissue or potential damage. It is a complex physiological and psychological activity and is one of the most common symptoms in the clinic. It consists of pain and response. It includes painful sensations caused by nociceptive stimuli on the body, as well as the body's painful responses to nociceptive stimuli (somatic and / or visceral vegetative responses, often accompanied by strong emotional color). Pain can be used as a warning that the body is harmed, causing a series of defensive protective reactions. But on the other hand, pain has its limitations as an alarm (for example, when pain appears in cancer, it is too late). And some long-term severe pain has become an intolerable torture for the body. Therefore, analgesia is an important task for medical workers. When people study pain, they usually use the method of measuring the pain threshold. The pain threshold can be divided into pain sensory threshold and pain response threshold. Therefore, in the study of pain, multiple indicators need to be used for comprehensive research. In addition, electrical changes in neural activity caused by noxious stimuli can be recorded. The neurobiological research on pain and analgesia has developed very rapidly in the past thirty years. In China, research on the neural mechanism of acupuncture analgesia has also promoted the in-depth development of the research on the physiology of pain and has a good international impact.
