Vocal cord paralysis
Paralysis of vocal cord, or throat paralysis, is a clinical manifestation, not a separate disease. When the laryngeal motor nerve (recurrent laryngeal nerve) is damaged, three types of paralysis can occur: vocal cord abduction, adduction, or relaxation of muscle tone. Clinically, the left recurrent laryngeal nerve has a long stroke, so paralysis of the left vocal cord is more common.
